History
Pushkar is considered one of the important sacred places according to the Hindu Mythology. Although, the dates of the foundation are not assured, the Hindu legends believe that Lord Brahma created Pushkar. The sacred books of this religion: Ramayana and Mahabharata do mention the name of Pushkar and its famous Pushkar lake. The famous legendary sage Parasara is supposed to be born in this city.
Udaipur is one of the cities that remained untouched by the Mughals, during the Mughal reign in India. As the city is a mountainous region, the Mughal horses could not attain it. Rana Udai Singh founded this place and it was made the capital of the Mewars. During the Birtish Raj, it became a princely state and after the independence, Udaipur was integrated to the Rajasthan state.
Culture
Rajasthan has a grandiose culture with its colorful dresses, beautiful dances and melodious music. The age-old tradition of the state can be enjoyed in the street markets of Pushkar and Udaipur. One should also try to be a part of the various fairs and festivals held in these two cities. The most one is the Pushkar camel fair, where you can shop, dance, get tattooed, and see the trading of camels and other cattle. Also, Mewar fair at Udaipur is amongst the famous fairs in Rajasthan. You can find the typical Rajasthani stuff like handicrafts, the traditional costumes, hand printed fabrics, and stones etc.

Pushkar is mainly famous for the religious purposes. Most of the tourists come here for the annual Pushkar Mela that is celebrated in October or November. Besides that, the tourists can enjoy the view of huge Hindu temples and the well-known Pushkar Lake. This lake is believed to be a sacred lake for the Hindus. The popular temples here include Jagat Pita Sita Brahma Temple, Varaha Temple, Apteshwar Temple, Savitri Temple and Temple of Rangji. Additionally, Man Mahal is also a tourist attraction. To start with, you should not miss the view of Lake Palace and the City Palace, the two most famous havellis built in the Rajasthani architecture. You should visit Shilpgram and Maharana Pratap memorial that reveal the story of the era bygone. Fateh Sagar Lake and the Lake Pichola are beautiful lakes that can give you peace of mind from the daily schedule.
